Copyright

Copyright is a vital part of creating new productions. It is essential that people use copyright for their new ideas. It mainly there to stop other people from stealing and copying your idea and making it in their own and making it their right.

Before publishing an idea to the public its a good idea to copyright it as your own (or a company) For example when making a television show like the inbetweeners - channel 4 . If that wasn't copyrighted ITV could make that show or a very similar show or even play that show on their channel and steal ratings from channel 4. But copyright is there to prevent this.

Also the theme tune can be (and mostly is) copyrighted. Theme tunes are one of the biggest parts of a show and if copied and taken it would ruin the show.

In my opinion I think copyright is the most essential part when making a production as someone or a company can mark something as theres and no one can take that away from them. Also no one can make a copy of their show. It also encourages people to be more unique when producing new ideas.
